2026 May E-Newsletter

A Message from our Executive Director

Dear Members,

Welcome to the May edition of the RMA Australia E-Newsletter.

The handing down of the 2026-27 Federal Budget earlier this month, along with major international developments, continue to challenge RMA’s Events Committee (ESC) as it develops our ongoing webinar and events program.

In making decisions, the ESC considers factors such as member feedback on future events, the need to address topics that interest risk professionals in general regardless of their risk specialty and/or the particular segment of the financial community in which they operate.

Often, a seemingly niche topic can be of benefit for someone working outside that niche. An example of this occurred last week when a panel of analysts dissected the solar industry. The panel comprised four risk analysts who discussed supply and demand conditions, market failures and likely developments.

This is why our May webinar, “The Role of Solar in Australia’s Energy Transition” was particularly relevant to our membership at large.

Many thanks to KordaMentha for bringing together such an outstanding panel, and to Deutsche Bank for their contribution to the discussion. For those who missed this event it can be accessed on our member site.

Our second May webinar, “How AI is Reshaping Risk – Global Insights from Experimentation to Scale”, hosted by Accenture, also provided a timely and practical discussion on how AI is transforming contemporary risk management practices.

Drawing on global experience across regulated industries, the panel explored how organisations are moving beyond AI pilots toward scaled adoption, and the resulting implications for governance, accountability, operational resilience and trust.

The session balanced strategic insights with practical examples, highlighting both the opportunities and emerging risks associated with AI-enabled decision making.

Over the coming months, we will be highlighting some of our most engaged webinar attendees. It is important to us to continually receive feedback on our webinars in regard to:

• What keeps members coming back

• What they find most valuable for their careers

• What they would like to see in the future to ensure our webinars continue to provide meaningful value and engagement.

Read below to hear what they have to say about their experience with RMA Australia webinars. Thank you to Rabobank‘s Alycia Cardy for your ongoing attendance, engagement and considered feedback.
