A Message from our Executive Director

Hybrid work is here to stay!

The COVID pandemic disrupted the way many of us work, possibly permanently. This was highlighted by the polls in our first May webinar, Hybrid Work – what should risk professionals be thinking about hosted by NAB.

4 out of 5 people in attendance online were working from home on the day of the webinar and more than 50% said that this was the future of their workplace.

As risk professionals, we must start to understand whether hybrid working is just an adjustment to existing arrangements or a trigger for a paradigm shift.

I would like to thank our expert panel below for their time and insights into this important topic:

Teena Rowell – CRO Enterprise Risk & Compliance, Suncorp

Professor Elizabeth Sheedy – Applied Finance, Macquarie University Business School

Mary Attard, Partner, PWC

Penny Dunn, Consulting Director, PWC

Matt Fehon, Partner, McGrathNicol

Moderator: Chris Fintan, Executive, Compliance C&IB, International & Control Room, NAB

The topic of hybrid work and “the new normal” was also discussed on the Emerging Risk Professionals (ERP) pilot podcast released earlier this month. If you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, we encourage you to listen, like and share the podcast within your networks. You can listen to the podcast wherever you get your podcasts.

It’s also not too late to register for today’s event on Capability Considerations for Climate Risk Management in Australia hosted by ANZ and EY. The expectations for climate risk management at banks, both in Australia and globally, are continually increasing.  Recent global events, such as COP26, along with local developments in Australia including CPG 229 and the APRA Climate Vulnerability Assessment, are challenging banks to consider how they can more effectively manage this risk and what their target capability of the future will look like.

Don’t miss out on being part of this critical conversation. For last minute registrations, please email [email protected]. You must be a current 2022/2023 member to register.
