4:00 PM AEDT 5:00 PM AEDT
Webinar

RMA Australia is pleased to bring you our second webinar for October – Quantum Cyber Risk, hosted by KPMG.

As quantum technologies continue to evolve, organisations are increasingly considering both the opportunities they present and the risks they may pose to cyber security, data protection and digital resilience. This session will explore the emerging quantum landscape, including the implications of quantum computing for existing security controls, practical considerations for organisations, and steps that can be taken today to prepare for future developments.

Key Topics

  • Background to quantum technologies.
  • Quantum cyber risk, including emerging standards, guidance and timelines organisations should be aware of.
  • Quantum computing, including key opportunities and practical use cases.
  • Quantum cyber security and quantum computing case studies in the financial services sector.
  • Practical steps organisations can take to improve quantum readiness and strengthen cyber resilience.

This session will provide attendees with a practical understanding of quantum cyber risk, including real-world examples of how financial services organisations are assessing and preparing for the opportunities and challenges presented by quantum technologies.

About the Panel:-

Michael Egan, Director, KPMG Australia

Michael Egan is a Director at KPMG Australia and leads the firm’s Quantum Lab, supporting organisations to harness the potential of quantum technologies while preparing for the risks they introduce. This includes the application of quantum computers, quantum sensors, quantum communications, and responding to the quantum cyber threat. With more than 25 years’ experience in technology innovation, Michael has built a deep understanding of the intersection between research, emerging technologies and business.

Michael is also an internationally recognised contributor of quantum technology standards. He plays a leading role within the Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), contributing to the development of international standards that will support the advancement of the global quantum ecosystem. These efforts are supporting the maturation of quantum technologies, including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which is recognised as a potential solution to address the quantum cyber risk.

Kyle Harrison, Senior Manager, KPMG Australia

Kyle Harrison is a Senior Manager in KPMG Australia’s Quantum Lab, where he helps organisations navigate the opportunities and risks associated with quantum technologies. Kyle specialises in quantum cyber security and supports organisations to assess quantum cyber risks, improve quantum readiness and develop practical strategies for a secure transition to post-quantum cryptography.

Kyle also advises organisations of the potential applications of quantum computing and their business impact. His experience includes leading quantum computing optimisation initiatives, technology landscape capability assessments, and conducting education sessions. Through this work, he helps organisations identify where quantum computers can create value and how to prepare for their adoption.
