Dr Elea Wurth, Lead Trustworthy AI Partner, Asia Pacific and Australia, Deloitte
Dr. Elea Wurth is the Lead Partner for Trustworthy AI, Asia Pacific, where she leverages over two decades of advanced analytics expertise to shape ethical, legally sound, and technically rigorous AI governance strategies for major institutions. Her insights drive impactful and strategic guidance for both public and private sectors, helping them navigate the complexities of AI risk management, governance, and regulatory alignment.
A pioneer in AI governance, Elea has led some of the most influential AI projects across multiple industries, including financial services, the public sector, telecommunications, transport, and energy, utilities, and mining. She has played a pivotal role in advancing the Australian government’s understanding of AI risk and regulation, serving as an advisor on Trustworthy AI to the Robodebt Royal Commission and leading Deloitte’s submissions on Safe and Responsible AI and Proposed Mandatory Guardrails for High-Risk AI.
Her expertise makes her a sought-after advisor on balancing risk and innovation, enabling boards and leadership teams to build resilient AI governance frameworks in an era of rapidly evolving regulations.
Beyond her leadership at Deloitte, Elea is a prominent voice in Trustworthy AI. She is a regular speaker at conferences and industry events and serves as a Guest Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Her teaching on AI risk and governance as part of the USYD Business School’s AI Fluency course has received high praise and endorsement from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Michelle Pinheiro, CRO of Data and Technology, ANZ
Michelle is the Chief Risk Officer for Technology and Banking Services at ANZ Bank. She is tasked with ensuring governance assurance for technology risks while identifying and addressing emerging risks in the external technology landscape. Moreover, Michelle spearheads the development of best practices for managing AI risk, encompassing data, privacy, and ethics, across all bank divisions. With a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in technology and data, she adeptly utilises her expertise to foster adaptive change in complex technology environments.
About the Moderator:-
Catherine Thrum, Chief Risk Officer, Group Functions and Insurance, Westpac
Catherine is Chief Risk Officer, Group Functions and Insurance, at Westpac Banking Group. In this role, Catherine is responsible for providing independent 2nd line risk and control advice and oversight to Group Functions, ensuring all risk decisions are consistent with risk appetite. Catherine plays an integral role in enabling a strong risk culture and embedding the 3LoD model, as well as supporting frameworks and policies to meet all relevant regulatory and governance requirements.
Catherine is Westpac’s representative on the Risk Management Association Management Committee, has previously Chaired the Committee and is currently the Secretary. In this role, Catherine has led the Risk Management Association Senior Women in Risk Roundtable.
Catherine’s key areas of interest include best practice risk governance, risk culture and strategy. A strong supporter of women in risk, Catherine mentors a number of promising young Risk professionals.
Prior to her current role, Catherine held various roles within Westpac including Acting General Manager, Governance and Assurances, Head of Governance, Frameworks, Prudential & Risk Culture; Head of Commercial Credit and Head of Credit Strategy and Policy. Catherine also spent some time in the Institutional Bank in both the structured asset-backed finance and debt capital markets businesses.
Catherine has a business degree from the University of Technology, has completed AGSM Executive Programs in Leadership and Strategy.
