About the Speaker:-
Andrew Hinchliff, Group Chief Risk Officer, CBA
Andrew Hinchliff is the Commonwealth Bank’s Group Chief Risk Officer. He commenced in this role in February 2025.
Andrew is focused on ensuring our people manage risk and compliance well to maintain the trust placed in the Group by our customers, shareholders and the community. He is accountable for ensuring the effective governance and management of all risk types, including credit risk, operational risk, compliance, liquidity, financial crime compliance and insurance.
Andrew joined the Commonwealth Bank in 2015 as Executive General Manager of Global Markets. Prior to his appointment as Group Chief Risk Officer, Andrew was Group Executive Institutional Banking and Markets since 2018.
Before joining the Commonwealth Bank, Andrew had an 18 year career in investment banking in London, New York and Australia. He commenced his career as an Oil and Gas Design Engineer after graduating with Honours with a Bachelor of Engineering and Commerce from the University of Western Australia. Andrew went on to complete his Masters of Business Administration at the Stern School of Business in New York majoring in Finance.

Lisa Phyland is the General Manager of Line 1 Risk at Commonwealth Bank, where she leads a team responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating key risks across the organisation. With more than 20 years’ experience in risk management, Lisa has developed a deep understanding of the complex risk landscape and has a proven track record of delivering better customer outcomes by ensuring that risk management practices are integrated into business decision-making.
Throughout her career, Lisa has held leadership roles in Financial Services within Australia, gaining valuable insights into the local market and regulatory environment. Lisa is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, having commenced her career in professional services consulting.
