About the Speakers:
Dr Gayan Benedict, Partner, PwC
Dr Gayan Benedict is a partner in PwC Advisory and Industry Research Fellow at the MIT Center for Information Systems Research (MIT CISR). Gayan specialises in the enterprise adoption of AI, with a focus on AI governance and risk management. Gayan was formerly CIO for the RBA, where he was accountable for operational and cyber resilience, and delivering the RBA’s major digital transformation, including the New Payments Platform and core banking modernisation. Before joining PwC, Gayan was CTO for Salesforce Australia, where he focused on the rollout of advanced agentic technologies into regulated sectors like banking and telecommunications.
David Ma, Director, PwC
David specialises in technology risk governance, bringing over 16 years of experience in emerging technology risk management. He has worked with some of our world’s largest and most iconic clients, assisting them in adopting new technologies in a trusted and responsible manner. As one of PwC’s global leaders in emerging technology risk, David has been instrumental in developing and pioneering our firm’s internal approaches, methodologies, and thought leadership in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrencies. His expertise ensures that our clients can navigate the complexities of these cutting-edge technologies while maintaining robust risk management practices.
Sanya Mediratta, Senior Manager, PwC
Sanya is a Senior Manager in PwCs Digital Trust practice and specialises in guiding organisations across industries on the safe and secure adoption of emerging technologies. Over the last three years, she has been focused on the adoption of Responsible AI at leading Australian organisations, specifically addressing the risks introduced by AI, control planes to monitor those risks, and governance structures that enable seamless and safe adoption of the technology across the organisation.

Zion Shane Abatayo, Director, PwC
Zion Shane Abatayo is a Risk Advisory and Transformation Director with extensive experience in the financial services industry. His work involves operational risk and financial risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards. He is knowledgeable in risk management frameworks, including risk appetite and model governance; particularly in the superannuation industry.
Zion has led projects involving cross-functional teams, managed stakeholder engagement, and provided external expertise through various risk committees, including non-for-profit organisations.
Zion holds a double honours degree in Commerce and Engineering, a certified FRM, and is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
