2026 October-November E-Newsletter
A Message from our CEO

Dear RMA Australia members,
October has been another important month for RMA Australia, with opportunities for members to connect, share insights and explore the economic and risk developments shaping our industry.
Our annual Economic Update was again a highlight of the calendar, with an international perspective. Hosted by Westpac, the event featured Elliot Clarke, Westpac’s Head of International Economics, examining the outlook for Australia’s economy and global financial markets. Following a year of considerable risk and uncertainty, volatility is expected to continue into 2027, raising important questions about investment, consumption and the direction of economic policy. Elliot shared Westpac’s baseline expectations and explored the key risks facing the economy and financial markets, providing valuable insights for risk professionals navigating an increasingly complex environment.
We are now inviting expressions of interest (EOI) for our Emerging Career Risk Professional (ECRP) committee. If you are a risk professional ideally with fewer than 10 years’ experienceand are passionate about supporting the next generation of risk professionals, the ECRP committee would be delighted to hear from you.
I would also like to share the news that I have resigned from my position as Executive Director of RMA Australia, after 14 years in the role. It has been a privilege to lead the organisation and work alongside our members and partners to strengthen our community and support the ongoing development of risk management professionals.
From delivering member events and navigating major technology changes during COVID 19 to implementing systems upgrades, my focus has remained on providing valuable professional development, supporting risk management education, sharing emerging risks and global practices and encouraging discussion around ethical and professional conduct in financial services.
I am proud of what we have achieved together and sincerely thank everyone for their continued support and engagement. RMA Australia has established a strong position as the premier association for risk management professionals in the Australian financial services community and I am confident it will continue to build on this foundation and deliver value to members well into the future.
Finally, can I express my appreciation of the current RMA Australia board members and President Lucy Masters who have loyally supported me in my role.
Richard Gilbert
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), RMA Australia
