October 2022 E-Newsletter

A Message from our Executive Director

Welcome to the October E-Newsletter,

At the recent RMA Australia AGM, we announced new office bearer roles on the board. I want to welcome Caroline Brell to her role as Vice President and Teena Rowell to her role as Treasurer. I thank retiring Vice President Megan Holt for her leadership and support (Megan continues on the board). I also thank the retiring Treasurer, Megan Readdy for her unstinting work as Treasurer over an extended period.

In addition, Scott North has stepped down from his role as Chair of the Operational Risk Forum after two years. He successfully ran the Forum during COVID, despite the challenges. We thank him and welcome Kevin Wong, Head of Operational Risk Management Framework at Westpac, to the role of Chair.

We also held our annual Economic Update with Westpac’s Chief Economist, Managing Director & Global Head of Economics & Research, Bill Evans. Bill shared his Economic Update with an engaged audience in Sydney and via webinar. Thanks to Westpac and Bill for your continued support of RMA Australia.

We have a busy month of events in November. Make sure you have registered for all of these as we move into the back end of the year.

First up, on 2 November, we are running a webinar on Making Sense of Sustainable Finance, hosted by Macquarie. Following this, on 7 November, is the rescheduled webinar on Practical insights and reflections on transforming through cloud, hosted by Protiviti. Our last event this month will be a face-to-face networking event on Looking back, Looking forward hosted by CBA. Join us in Sydney on 17 November to hear Tara Cahill, RMA Board Member and CBA’s Chief Risk Officer of Technology and Operations, and Nigel Williams, CBA’s Group Chief Risk Officer, reflect on 2022, priorities for 2023 and the challenges and opportunities for risk professionals.
