The RMA is pleased to bring to its members our second April webinar ‘In conversation with APRA – What’s on the horizon?’.

Hosted by Deloitte, Lara Douglas, General Manager Banking Supervision APRA will present on the regulator’s strategic outlook and through discussion with Melissa Gomes, (Director Risk Advisory) will explore how the financial services industry is responding to the rapidly evolving regulatory and operating environment.

Lara Douglas, General Manager, Banking Supervision, APRA

Lara Douglas is a General Manager in the Banking Supervision division of APRA where she oversees a range of major banks and credit unions and mutuals. Lara joined APRA in April 2020. Prior to this Lara held senior roles at ANZ Australia leading regulatory affairs, whistleblowing, employee misconduct and breach reporting and provisioning methodology and regulatory risk reporting.  

Lara spent 10 years in the UK at Royal Bank of Scotland in both Edinburgh and London in a range of roles covering systems accounting, regulatory credit and capital calculations and reporting and an executive Business Manager role.  

Lara is AICD qualified, holds an MBA from Edinburgh University, is an ICAA qualified accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Tasmania   


Melissa Gomes, Director, Risk Advisory, Deloitte

Melissa is a Director in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory practice with over 20 years of experience in governance, risk, compliance and operations in financial services with a specific focus in superannuation. Melissa has held senior operational, risk and compliance roles in financial services and has extensive superannuation trustee experience. 

Melissa has led large change programs in superannuation across trustee and operations including successor fund transfers and regulatory change and has developed and implemented comprehensive compliance and risk frameworks.
